Phuket in April: Public Events and Holidays
There are multiple public events and holidays planned on Phuket in this year - from usual Songkran Festival to cricket and golf championships and motorbike exhibition. Here goes a list of events starting from this weekend:
- April, 6: Chakri Memorial Day (public holiday) - Chakri Day commemorates the foundation of Bangkok as natinal capital by Rama I - first monarch in Chakri dynasty. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the ninth monarch of the Chakri dynasty.
- April, 10-13: Phuket Bike Week and Motorcycle Exhibition 2008 - annual bike exhibition and massive festival. There will be motorcycle exhibition in Patong during April, 10-12 + exciting parties near Patong Dolphin Park from 18:00 to 24:00. - April 16-20: Phuket International Cricket Sixes - 5th annual cricket championship with up to 26 teams competing in Karon Stadium. Full shedule will start at April, 16th with a beach cricket tournament outside the Karon Seasands Resort. - April 20-24: Phuket Asian Senior Masters - Golf 2008 - professional golf event for seniors in Phuket Country Golf Club. You can visit official site for additional information (phone: +66 81-607 2672 or 081-607 2672 for local calls). Cost is 30k bahts per team of four golfers. Free entry for spectators.
And fon’t forget about National Labor Day @ May, 1st: it is a public holiday for all commercial workers in Thailand. Government offices will remain open.
