Canadian Tourist Shot Dead by Policeman in Chiang Mai

M-9 Beretta 9mm PistolInvestigators says canadian couple involved in drunken brawl in “Ting Tong” pub in Chiang Mai after husband — John Leo Del Pinto — (bodybuilder) recently arrived to Thailand and found his wife — Carly Reisig — is pregnant with local man.

37 years old piliceman Sgt-Major Uthai Dechawiwat (who is 1.6m tall) claimed he had to use his gun after canadian couple beaten him to ground and tryed to snatch his gun from him. Policeman was beaten by the couple and used the gun to warn / threaten them — however John Leo Del Pinto (25) tryed to snatch pistol from the policeman (after he managed to get up from ground) and was shot in mouth while Carly Reisig (24)  was shot in upper left side of torso.

Del Pinto died soon and Carly Reisig was sent to local hospital.

Policeman at the moment released on bail and being charged with murder and manslaughter and “intent to kill” (connected with Reisig’s injury).

Initial rumors around the accident said canadian argued with Thai man in the bar and was shot by him soon after multiple claims in English “I’ll kill you!”. UK “Guardian” version looks similar to official.
