Phuket is a province located on tropical island near south-west coast of Thailand in Indian ocean. You can see a simple map of Phuket island with basic information about locations of towns (and smaller isles) around the island. Phuket island is very popular among tourists in Thailand: according to Tourism Authority of Thailand 4.7 millions travellers visited the island in 2006-2007 season while officially registered populaion of the island is 314 thousands people (up to 500 thousands with seasonal workers during peak periods). Tourism generated 95 billions baht income to local economy ($3 billions). Between October 2007 and March 2008, 507 flights per week sheduled to arrive to Phuket International airport.

Phuket Town and Patong are most crowded and populated area on the island with highest concentration of hotels, bars and restaurants. Phuket International Airport located at oppsite side of island (about 25km or 15 miles from Phuket Town and Patong).
